Reviews and Ratings
I had a delightful stay at Spencer Court. The room was cozy, just what we wanted, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was exceptional, making me feel at home. While the room was a bit small, it suited us perfectly, and I would recommend this lovely bed and breakfast to anyone looking for a welcoming place to stay.
I found the hotel to have compact rooms in need of an overhaul and updating, with an incredibly uncomfortable old bed and a thin pillow that hardly qualified as such. The room I received wasn't as described, lacking the promised facilities. On the upside, the location was good for exploring the town and sea, mainly residential with free parking if you're lucky to find a spot. However, the tight parking could be challenging for larger vehicles. The dining experience had its highs with exceptional service from friendly staff but also lows when younger, inexperienced family members struggled to meet expectations. The hotel lacked some facilities as they were fully booked, and some services like car hire and laundry weren't available during my stay.
The hotel's location is excellent, overlooking an Edwardian square and within easy walking distance of the harbour, restaurants, and bars. The rooms were very small, old, and in need of refurbishment, with noisy neighbors smoking pot. The dining experience, although adequate, could be better as it did not meet the advertised standards. Despite these issues, the welcoming staff and the convenient location are standout features.
